Anthony Koniak

Mr. Anthony J. “Tony” Koniak, age 76 , of Salamanca, New York died early Friday morning, July 13, 2012 at the Absolut of Salamanca, New York.

Born on July 18, 1935 he was the son of the late Frank & Louise Sowa Koniak. He was married to the former Lucille Kosinski Koniak who survives.

Mr. Koniak was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the Korean Conflict.

He was employed as a Salesman with the Salamanca Area Beverage Company for over 35 years.

Mr. Koniak was a member of the former Holy Cross Church, the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535, the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post #5296, the Holy Cross Athletic Club, and the former Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1002. He enjoyed bowling and camping.

Surviving are: 4 sons, Jay (Susan) Koniak, State Park Avenue, Salamanca, New York, Robert (Dawn ) Koniak, Sawmill Run Road, Little Valley, New York, Terry (Lori) Koniak, Lexington Avenue, Salamanca, New York, Peter Koniak, Smith Street, Salamanca, New York; 2 daughters, Molly (Todd) Schambs, Pittsburg, PA, Diane (Tim) Hedlund, Great Valley, New York; 5 grandchildren, Amanda Koniak, Megan Koniak, Emily Koniak, all of Salamanca, New York, Tyler Hedlund, Cole Hedlund, Great Valley, New York; a sister, Patricia Perschinni, Bradford, PA.; a step brother, Richard Speroni, a step sister, Debra Speroni; several nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass will be held in Our Lady of Peace Parish on Monday at 11 A.M. with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.

Full military honors will be conducted at the church by members of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535 and the Veterans of foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post #5296.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
