Carol Kennison

Mrs. Carol M. Kennison, 70, of Frank Street, Salamanca, NY died Thursday afternoon, March 23, 2017 at the Bradford Regional Medical Center following a short illness.

Born May 17, 1946 in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late William and Roberta Shongo Sunderlin.

She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians, Bear Clan.

She was a member of the former St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, the Holy Cross Athletic Club, and the Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post 535 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, crosswords, and playing Yahtzee and Solitaire. She was known for her great sense of humor.

Mrs. Kennison had been employed as a cashier at Family Dollar, at the former McCrory’s, the Salamanca Antique Mall, and at the former Fancher Furniture Company.

Surviving are: four daughters, Diana (Scott Schuman) Kennison, Jody (Chris Campbell) Kennison, Lisa Chapman, all of Salamanca, NY, Michelle (John II) Rockwell, Kill Buck, NY; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Marjory (Robert) Blauvelt, Salamanca, NY; a brother, Lawrence (Judy) Sunderlin, Salamanca, NY; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a daughter, Lynn Marie Kennison, three sisters, Bonita Shongo-Morrison, Patricia Sunderlin, Bertha May Kelley, three brothers, Raymond Sunderlin, David Shongo, and William Sunderlin Jr.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River St, Salamanca, NY on Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 2 – 5 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m. with Deacon Michael Anderson of Our Lady of Peace Parish officiating.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
