Clair A. Conklin Sr.

Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather

Clair Conklin, 86, of Washington Street, Salamanca, NY died Thursday evening, July 5, 2018 at home following a short illness.

Born August 5, 1931 in Titusville, PA, he was the son of the late Glenn and Grace Bowles Conklin. He was married on April 22, 1962 in Salamanca, NY to the former Betty Miller, his wife of 56 years, who survives.

Mr. Conklin was a self-employed logger and retired from Larimer & Norton in Ellicottville.

He was a life member of the Salamanca Volunteer Fire Department and a member of Elkdale Country Club. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, bowling, and making wooden toys. He loved sitting in his garage and waving to everyone that passed by.

Surviving are: three children, Bonnie (Jerry) Miller, Allegany, NY, Amy Ginnitti, Little Valley, NY and Brenda (Tony) Pascarella, Salamanca, NY; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne (Kathryn) Conklin, Salamanca, NY, Norman (Sally) Conklin, Spring Creek, PA; four sisters, Lucy (Bill) Kennedy, Plano, TX, Marie (Ron) Selig, Phoenix, AZ, Joyce Beals, Port Richie, FL, Donna Juhola, Littleton, CO; two brothers-in-law, Larry (Laurie) Miller, Little Valley, NY, Charles Miller, Salamanca, NY; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Wanda Miller, on April 3, 2000, three brothers, Roy Conklin, Marshall Conklin, Glenn Conklin, and two sisters, Mildred Conklin and Delores Lindsay.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Burial will be in Crawford Cemetery, Salamanca, NY.
