Mrs. Cynthia Swift, age 71, of Bucktooth Run, Little Valley, New York died February 12, 2009 at Highland Hospital, Rochester, New York following a long illness.

Born on May 15, 1937 in Olean, New York she was the daughter of the late Clair and Velma Tarbox McDonald. She was married on March 15, 1966 in Bradford, Pa. to Mr. Stanley Swift Sr. who predeceased her on May 10, 1991.

Mrs. Swift taught food preparation to the Sioux Indians on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. She was employed at the Salamanca Nursing Home in the Dietary Department for over 10 years. Also, she was a home health care aide in the area. She co-owned and operated Swift Auto Sales in Great Valley, New York.

She was a life member of the former Salamanca Moose Lodge #1002 and the Great Valley Fire Company. She was an avid bingo player, enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and her garden. She was an avid reader. She was also a fresh air and foster mother and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are: are 5 sons, Steven Little, Little Valley, New York, David Little, Philadelphia, Pa., Stanley Swift Jr., East Randolph, New York, Robert Swift, Olean, New York, William Swift, Salamanca, New York; 3 daughters, Sharon (Douglas) Woodworth, Allegany, New York, Tina (Bill) Brown, Olean, New York, Tammy (Dennis Jr.) Davies, Great Valley, New York; 20 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Monday from 1 – 4 P.M. at which time funeral services will be held .

Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Great Valley, New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Salamanca Public Library Fund.
