Diane B. Uhl

Diane Banton Uhl, 87, died Wednesday, October 24, 2018.

Born December 1, 1930 in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Milo and Flossie Osgood Banton.

On June 8, 1952 in the First United Methodist Church in Salamanca, she married Lawrence Sydney Uhl, who survives.

She was a member of the United Congregational Methodist Church, the XI Beta TAU Sorority, and with her husband, had been a member of the Supper Club for over forty years.

Mrs. Uhl was co-owner of the former Uhl Buick Co. Inc. with her husband. She was also employed as a bookkeeper at the former Fancher Furniture Company, retiring in 1996.

Her personal joys included travel, tent/trailer camping, houseboating at Onoville Marina, Bona’s basketball, Little Theatre, Chautauqua Institute Ami-Theatre, marching band competitions, and high school sports. Above all was her love of her family and extended family, and adoration of all children.

Surviving besdies her husband are: two daughters, Ellen (Thomas) Fenton, Great Valley, NY and Pamela (Joe Ognen) Caldwell, Bradford, PA; three grandchildren, Joshua (Caitlynne) Zolner, Great Valley, Jessica (Travis) Wallace, Great Valley, and Julia (Ryan) Dunn, Puyallup, WA; seven great-grandchildren, Garrett & Griffin Zolner, Emma & Grant Wallace, and Mia, James, & Zoey Dunn; a brother, Mark (Michele) Banton, Trenton, MI; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a son, Lawrence O. Uhl, a brother, Gene O. Banton, and her stepmother, Theresa Banton.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the United Congregational Methodist Church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Clyde "Buck" Hall, officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the United Congregational Methodist Church, 134 Broad Street, Salamanca, NY 14779 or the donor’s choice.
