Emma A. "E.Adell" Peters

Emma A. "E.Adell" Peters, age 97, residing at 97 Jefferson Street, Salamanca, New York her entire life died Monday, March 17, 2008.

Born on August 17, 1910 in Salamanca, New York she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Emma Nies Peters.

Miss. Peters was a graduate of Salamanca High School Class of 1928 and attended Fredonia Normal School graduating in 1931.

She taught school for 38 years: 8 years in rural schools and 30 years in Salamanca as a kindergarten teacher retiring in 1973.

Miss Peters had been a member of the Congregational Church for 73 years where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and particiapted on the Memorial Committee. She was a member of AARP, serving one year as president. She was also a member of the New York State Teacher's Association as well as a member of the Western Cattaraugus Teacher's Association. She was a former member of the Delta Cappa Gamma Soroity.

She enjoyed several pastimes: reading, playing cards, and especially traveling with her favorite friend, Rhea McElroy.

Surviving are: a brother, James (Betty) Peters, Jefferson Street, Salamanca, New York; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by 2 brothers, Donald E. Peters and Wayne L. Peters, a sister, Jeanette Peters Redeye and a sister-in-law, Kathryn Peters.

There will be no visitation.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday at 5:00 P.M. in the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York.
