Erna Redeye

Mrs. Erna Redeye, age 71, of R.C. Hoag Drive, Jimersontown, N Y died peacefully at the home of her daughter on Thursday, January 28, 2010 after a courageous Battle with cancer.

Born on October 13, 1938 in Red House, New York she was the daughter of the late Helia and Sarah Bowen Jones. She was married in 1959 to Mr. Stewart “Jo-Jo” Redeye who predeceased her on July 31, 2006.

Mrs. Redeye was a graduate of Salamanca High School Class of 1956.

She worked for the Seneca Nation of Indians AOA Nutrition Program as the Site Manager for 18 years.

She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Bear Clan. She attended Red House Memorial Church. She was a member of the original AIRFD Ladies Auxiliary. In earlier years she was a member of a gospel singing trio with her sisters. Her family was the love of her life and she was dedicated to caring for them. Erna and her husband enjoyed traveling in their later years.

Surviving are: her loving daughter, Angela Redeye Steckman, R.C. Hoag Drive, Salamanca, NY; 2 precious granddaughters, Kasey Steckman and Jules Steckman, both of Salamanca, NY; a brother, William Jones, Jimersontown, NY; 2 nieces Jacqueline Bowen and Rebecca Bowen, both of Jimersontown, NY and a nephew, Dennis Bowen, Tuba City, Arizona.

In addition to her parents and her loving husband, she was predeceased by 2 sons, Howard “Bear” Redeye on August 31, 2000, Joey “Jobob” Redeye on December 17, 2009, 2 sisters, Annabell Bowen and Norma Jones.

Friends may call at the home of her brother, William Jones, 3557 Center Road, Jimersontown, New York on Saturday after 4 P.M. and all day Sunday.

She will be waked at the Red House Memorial Church in Jimersontown, NY on Monday morning from 9:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at which time funeral services will be held with Pastor Wallace Mapes, of the Healing Reigns Fellowship, officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Heights Cemetery, Jimersontown, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
