Hazel A. Karpin

Hazel A. DeGolia Karpin, 92, of Greenhurst, NY died Monday, January 10, 2022 at Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing following a long illness.

Born January 29, 1929 on the Allegany Reservation in Kill Buck, NY, she was the daughter of the late Alice Crouse and William DeGolia. She was married in 1948 to John Karpin who predeceased her in 2005.

She was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and the Heron Clan.

She was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1947.

Hazel had been employed as an Administrative Assistant in healthcare in Olean, NY for over 20 years, and had formerly worked in the bakery in Tops Supermarket in Olean, NY.

She loved her dogs, traveling with her late husband, wintering in Florida, and living at their cottage on Chautauqua Lake in the summer.

Surviving are: a sister, Florence McMullen Fuller, Kill Buck, NY; three nieces, Lisa Fuller, Theresa McMullen, Colleen McMullen; three nephews, Gregory McMullen, Charles McMullen, Sean McMullen.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Lawrence McMullen and Merle Warner.

There will be no visitation.

Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family.

Burial was in Mount View Cemetery, Olean, NY.
