James "Leo" Maley

James "Leo" Maley, age 86, of Lincoln Avenue, Salamanca, New York, died Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at his home following a long illness.

Born January 30, 1927 in Salamanca, New York, he was the son of the late James & Rebecca Whalen Maley. He was married on May 28, 1988 to the former Deborah Kosinski, who survives.

Mr. Maley was a graduate of St. Patrick's Parochial School Class of 1940 and Salamanca High School Class of 1944.

He was a veteran of U.S. Army, serving as a Corporal in the 13th Engineer Battalion of 7th Infantry Division during World War II. He also served Occupation Army in 1946.

Mr. Maley was employed for Bob's Texaco, LB Hartman's Inc., O'Laughlin Cadillac, Casey Cole Chevrolet in Bradford, PA, and he retired from Ed Schults Chevrolet in Jamestown, NY.

He was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Holy Cross Athletic Club, the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535. He was active in vintage automobile activities, a former member of Antique Automobile Club of America, Sports Car Club of America, British Automobile Racing Club of England, and Royal Automobile Club of England.

Surviving besides his wife are: a step son, Brian (Kristina) Emborsky, Great Valley, New York; 3 step daughters, Amy (Greg) Wujastyk, Great Valley, New York, Renee and Patti; 3 grandchildren, Nyles Panus, Ryden Wujastyk, Kyren Wujastyk, all of Great Valley, New York; several nieces and nephews.

He predeceased by a sister, Agnes Maley, and 2 brothers, Robert Maley and Edward Maley.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M.

A prayer service will be held on Saturday afternoon, March 17, 2013 at 12:30 P.M. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 P.M. in Our Lady of Peace Parish with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.

Full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535 and Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post #5296.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to HomeCare & Hospice, 1226 West State Street, Olean, NY 14760 or the Salamanca Public Library.
