John D. Weir Jr.

Mr. John D. Weir Jr., 64, of Great Valley, NY passed away unexpectedly at home Tuesday evening, February 16, 2021.

Born August 30, 1956 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late John D. and Shirley Koch Weir. He married his high school sweetheart, the former Joette Oliverio, on May 28, 1977 who was by his side when he passed.

He was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1974 where he excelled in football and wrestling. He was a Big 30 All Star and had his Salamanca football jersey retired.

John owned and operated the former Express Mart & Deli, The Big Chill, and Jo Jo’s Café, Salamanca, NY. He worked for Pepsi for 36 years, with plans to retire this spring to work part-time on movies with his son in Pittsburgh and to have more time enjoying fishing and traveling in his motor home.

Surviving besides his wife are: two sons, Jordan Weir, Pittsburgh, PA, Jacob (Caitlin) Weir, Frisco, TX; two sisters, Susan Anderson, Burlington, KY, Penny John, Salamanca, NY; a brother, Michael Weir, Olean, NY; brother-in-law, Mike (Laurie) Oliverio, Plant City, FL; Barnes and Barton families, SC; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was predeceased by a son, Joshua Weir, a sister, Sharon Quattrone, and his in-laws, Joseph and Helen Oliverio.

There will be no visitation or funeral per his wishes.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to EARS, P.O. Box 445, Salamanca, NY.
