John M. Crowley

John M. Crowley, 52, of Salamanca, NY died Saturday, July 15, 2023 at home following a long illness.

Born December 28, 1970 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late James K. Crowley Sr. and Lana R. Bennett.

He was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians and of the Wolf Clan.

He was a graduate of North Central High School, Class of 1988, Spokane, WA. He also earned his Bachelor’s of Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Daytona Beach, FL.

John was a veteran of the United States Army from 1988 – 1997 with the 82nd and 101st Airborne serving in Grenada and Panama as well as Operation Desert Storm. He earned the Army Lapel Button, Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with Arrowhead Service, Southwest Asia Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star, and the Kuwait Liberation Medal.

He had been employed as a truck driver with Werner Enterprises in Omaha, NE for over three years and most recently with McHone Industries in Salamanca, NY.

He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and was a firearms enthusiast.

Surviving are: a brother, James (Christina) Crowley Jr., Jimersontown, NY; a sister, Gina Nelligan, Siloam Springs, AR; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Saturday, July 22, 2023 from 10 – 11am.

Full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion Iroquois Post 1587 at Hillside Haven Cemetery, Steamburg, NY.
