John Sliviak

Mr. John M. Sliviak Jr., age 56, of Center Street, Salamanca, New York died Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at Olean General Hospital, Olean, New York following a short illness.

Born on February 12, 1953 in Salamanca, New York he was the son of the late John and Betty Hand Sliviak Sr.. He was married on March 26, 1977 to the former Deborah Armstrong who survives.

He was a graduate of Salamanca High School Class of 1971.

Mr. Sliviak was employed for over 10 years at the Cattaraugus County Department of Public Works in Little Valley, New York as a former transfer station operator and the Cattaraugus County Sign Shop. He had been employed with Fitz-Patrick & Weller in Ellicottville and King Window in Little Valley.

He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed camping. He was a member of the Cattaraugus Rod & Gun Club, the former Salamanca Moose Lodge #1002, and the Holy Cross Athletic Club.

Surviving besides his wife are: a son, Jeremy Sliviak, Great Valley, New York; a sister Linda (Joe) Courtway, Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Friday from 6 – 9 P.M.
