Joyce E. Ginnery

Mrs. Joyce Ginnery, 83, of Humphrey, NY died Thursday evening, November 8, 2018 at Olean General Hospital following a short illness.

Born April 27, 1935 in Youngsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Hazel Webster Herlet. She was married on June 7, 1986 to George “Tony” Ginnery, who predeceased her on November 24, 1989.

She was employed in the kitchen at the St. Elizabeth Motherhouse in Allegany, NY for over ten years, retiring in 1989.

Mrs. Ginnery loved to spend time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends. She was a lifetime member of the Humphrey Fire Company. Joyce loved to cook for her family and was well known for her baking skills. She also loved going to Bingo. She will be remembered for growing beautiful flowers.

Surviving are: a son, Harry (Mary) Ginnery, Humphrey, NY; four daughters, Violet (Robert) Michels, Salamanca, NY, Helen (Truman) Morris, Ischua, NY, Mary (Donald Jimerson) Ginnery, Humphrey, NY, Sally (Skip Boutwell) Ginnery, Humphrey, NY; two sisters, Shirley Ginnery, Humphrey, NY, Susie Chase, Great Valley, NY; two brothers, Robert Chapman, Humphrey, NY, Gary Chapman Sr., Springville, NY; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Betty Gilman and two brothers, Roger Chapman and Leon Chapman.

There are several extra special adopted grand children and a special friend Nicole Good for being her “go getter”.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 from 1 – 3 p.m., at which time funeral services will be held with Rev. Josh Freundschuh, of the Humphrey Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Great Valley, NY.

In leu of flowers, the family suggests memorials sent to the Humphrey Fire Company.
