Julie Ann Mendell

Julie Ann Mendell, 47, of Great Valley, NY, died Tuesday, January 26, 2020 at Olean General Hospital following complications of COVID19.

Born March 8, 1973 in Olean, NY, she was the daughter of Allan D. and Cynthia Dolecki Mendell of Great Valley.

She was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1994.

Julie had been employed with Intandem in Olean, NY for over 25 years.

She was a member of the Holy Name of Mary RC Church, Ellicottville, NY. She enjoyed being with her family and attending her brother’s, nieces’, and nephews’ various sporting events, and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan. She enjoyed traveling, doing puzzles and word searches, and going on Facebook and texting her friends. She will be remembered for her smile and ease to meet new people everywhere she went.

Surviving besides her parents are: a sister, Laura (Jason) Zeher, Great Valley, NY; a brother, Chris (Heather) Mendell, Great Valley, NY; two nieces, McKenna Mendell, Anna Zeher; two nephews, Aidan Zeher, Ian Zeher, all of Great Valley, NY; her godmother, Karen Dolecki McClure, Hamburg, NY; a special cousin, Amy Bedell, Little Valley, NY; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

She was predeceased by maternal grandparents, Bernard and Joanne Dolecki, and paternal grandparents, Edward A. and Mary Mendell.

Due to COVID restrictions, there will be no visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Holy Name of Mary RC Church, Ellicottville, on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.

Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Great Valley, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Ellicottville Special Education Life Skills Program, c/o Julie Jams Java Cart, ECS PTO, 5873 Route 219, Ellicottville, NY 14731.
