Leo Emborsky

Mr. Leo Emborsky, age 86, of Upper State Park Avenue, Salamanca, New York died on Wednesday evening, August 24, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.

Born on September 10, 1924 in Salamanca, New York he was the son of the late Maximillan and Helen Tomsick Emborsky. He was married in Salamanca, New York in 1976 to the former Cora Burlin who predeceased him on April 5, 2008. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a surgical technician with the 520th Medical Hospital Ship Platoon in the both the European and Asiatic Pacific Campaigns during WWII. He was awarded the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct medal, the American Campaign Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.

Mr. Emborsky was employed at the former Fancher Furniture Company in Salamanca, New York.

He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post #5296, Holy Cross Athletic Club, and the former Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1002.

Surviving are: a daughter, Janet (Lance) Oaks, Olean, New York; 2 step sons, Lee (Florence) Harrison, Steamburg, New York, Russell (Toni) Harrison, Great Valley, New York; 15 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Purdy, Olean, New York; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Marcie John, a step son, Dennis Harrison, 2 brothers, Robert Emborski, and Edward Emborski.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Saturday from Noon until 2 P.M. at which time funeral and committal services will be held with Jeffrey Walker officiating.

Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.

The family suggests memorials to Roswell Park Cancer Institute or Veterans of Foreign Wars john F. Ahrens Post #5296.
