Lucius Stephens

Mr. Lucius Stephens, age 61, of Broad Street, Salamanca, New York died Monday morning, May 10, 2010 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Rochester, New York.

Born on January 23, 1949 in Talladega, Alabama he was the son of the late Q.P. & Seppie Coleman Stephens. He was married in Ellicottville, New York on May 22, 1982 to the former Carla Vecellio who survives.

Mr. Stephens was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School Class of 1967.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in South Dakota & Korea.

Mr. Stephens was employed as a Counselor with NYS Children & Family Services in Rochester, New York. Previously he had been employed at the Great Valley Division of Youth, Great Valley, New York and Longview in West Valley, New York. He had also been employed by the former Rusty Nail, Holiday Valley, and the former Crystal Palace, all of Ellicottville, New York.

He attended Bradford Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Bradford Pa., a former member of Elkdale Country Club and Holiday Valley. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed all sports. He was a Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres Fan.

Surviving besides his wife are: a daughter, Emily A. Stephens, Salamanca, New York; a son, Marcus P. Stephens, Salamanca, New York; 2 sisters, Annie Ruth Glover, Niagara Falls, New York, Virginia Brown, Dallas, Texas; 2 brothers, Ulysses (Hazel) Stephens, Tampa, Fla., Lovelle (Mandy) Stephens, Tampa, Fla.; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister, Magdalene Burns, 3 brothers, Marvin Stephens, John Stephens, and Howard Stephens.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Friday evening from 7 – 8 P.M. at which time a memorial service will be held with Rev. Kenneth Dunkerley, pastor of Bradford Christian Missionary & Alliance Church, officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest s memorials to the Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association or the donor’s choice.
