Mary A. Winship

Mary A. Winship, 86, of Salamanca, NY, died Thursday, January 18, 2024 in New Port Richey, FL following a short illness.

Born November 6, 1937 in Salamanca, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Anna Bay Puvel. She was married on July 27, 1957 in Salamanca, NY to Russell Winship who predeceased her in 2005.

She was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1955.

Mary had been employed in the finance department at the former Taylor Jamestown, Ethan Allen, and Luminite, all in Salamanca, NY. She also worked at Cattaraugus County Bank for over twenty-five years retiring in 2003.

She was a member of the Rosary Society at Our Lady of Peace Parish and an avid participant in the Salamanca Senior Center. She loved spending time with her friends and family, and taking care of her animals.

Surviving are: three sons, Russell (Robert Decker) Winship, New Port Richey, FL, Todd (Michelle) Winship, Gowanda, NY, David (Jodi) Winship, Salamanca, NY; six grandchildren, David and Brianna, Megan, Paige, Riley, Mia; two great-grandchildren, Mason and Rome; a sister, Catherine (John) Monarch, CA; two nephews, Christopher Monarch, Jeff (Lindie) Monarch; three great-nieces, Natalie, Katie, Maddy.

Memorial Visitation will be held at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Friday, May 10, 2024 from 4 – 7pm.

A Memorial Service will be held at Our Lady of Peace Parish, 274 Broad Street, Salamanca, NY on Saturday at 10:30am.

Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to EARS, P.O. Box 445, Salamanca, NY 14779.
