Michael John Cleary

Michael John Cleary, 66, of Salamanca, NY, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022 in West Valley, NY.

Born April 8, 1956 in Amityville, NY, he was the son of the late Frank and Anne O’Brien Cleary.

Michael spent many years in California before returning to the East Coast in 1993. He was a dog lover, motorcyclist, sportsman, and an avid businessman with several successful retail ventures throughout his life, ranging from athletic shoes to mattresses. A beloved father, brother, friend, and community member, Michael spent the last few years of his life in the Salamanca, NY area enjoying the beauty of the Central New York region, and traveling with his friends and loved ones.

Surviving are: two sons, Christopher (Heather) Cleary, Cameron Cleary; three siblings, Frank Cleary, Steven Cleary, Joan Cleary; cherished nieces and nephews; his best friend, Rob Gerstenzang; and Sugar, a very friendly Rottweiler and recent addition to Mike’s family.

He was predeceased by three siblings, Peggy Cleary, Robert Cleary, and Jean Cleary.

Memorial visitation will be held at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 from 4 – 6pm, at which time a memorial service will be held.
