Phyllis Butcher

Phyllis Butcher, 77, of Eagle Street, Salamanca, NY, formerly of Cattaraugus and Gowanda, NY, died early Sunday morning, September 23, 2018 at the Salamanca Nursing & Rehab Center following a long illness.

Born April 8, 1941 in Olean, NY, she was the daughter of the late Dale Sr. and Rosalie Nourse Johnson.

Mrs. Butcher had been employed with the city of Salamanca as a Crossing Guard at the former Jefferson Street School. Previously, she worked at the Gowanda Tannery.

She liked boating and camping, and enjoyed spending time with her family, especially attending family events. She also liked to bike on the Pat McGee Trail and going to the casino.

She attended the Methodist Church in Cattaraugus and the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Salamanca.

Surviving are: two sons, Randy Lemk, Cattaraugus, NY, Larry (Chris) Kilby, MI; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dale (Erna) Johnson, Jamestown, NY, Bobby (Coleen) Johnson, Franklinville, NY, Dave Johnson, Farmersville, NY; a sister, Nancy (Dan) Fitzpatrick, Ellicottville, NY; several nieces and nephews; a longtime companion, John Kiefer, Gowanda, NY.

She was predeceased by a son, Gary Kilby, two sisters, Myrna Cobo and Lynne Baldwin.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Thursday from 11 – 1pm with graveside service held at Maples Cemetery 2:30pm.
