Robert J. Stoltz Sr.

Robert J. Stoltz Sr., 78, of Salamanca, NY died Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Olean General Hospital.

Born September 12, 1943 in Bradford, PA, he was the son of the late Ross and Lucy Ross Stoltz. He was married in 1994 in Little Valley, NY to Millie Tertinek Rathbun, who survives. Previously, he had been married to the former Leora Wheaton.

He was a graduate of Bradford High School.

Bob had been employed as a mechanic with Work & Silvis in Allegany for over 10 years, then with Cold Springs Construction Company in Akron, NY prior to his retirement in 2005. After retirement, he worked as a mechanic with Seneca Construction in Salamanca and did many side jobs.

He was a member of the Holy Cross Athletic Club, Limestone and Coldspring Fireman’s Clubs, and a social member of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post 535 and Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, four wheeling, and drinking beer. He also enjoyed tinkering with small engines.

Surviving besides his wife are: four daughters, Lisa (Jason) Woodarek, Allegany, NY, Lorie Ferrara, West Seneca, NY, Cindy Stoltz Gilbert, Salamanca, NY, Christine Stoltz, Kill Buck, NY; two sons, Robert Stoltz Jr., Kill Buck, NY, Ross “Jack” (Cathy) Stoltz, Salamanca, NY; a stepdaughter, Michele (Stan) Szymanski, KY; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Diane (Aubrey “Sonny”) Wheaton, and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry (Louise) Stoltz, Jack (Ellen) Stoltz, Thomas (Joanne) Stoltz.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 4 – 7 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Michael Lonto officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Holy Cross Athletic Club, American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post 535, or the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296.
