Ronald D. Jimerson

Ronald D. Jimerson, 69, of Steamburg, New York, died Saturday (October 1, 2016) at the Heritage Green Rehab & Skilled Nursing, Greenhurst, NY

Born July 14, 1947 in Salamanca, New York, he was the son of the late Lester and Hazel Thompson Jimerson. He was married to the former Judy Bova, who survives.

He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving with the 63d OMS MAC as an aircraft maintenance specialist during the Vietnam Conflict. He was awarded the NDSM Medal.

He had been employed as a carpenter with the Local 66, Olean, New York for over 30 years prior to his retirement.

Mr. Jimerson was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation of Indians, the Turtle Clan, and served as a councilor for the Seneca Nation from 2000 – 2004. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #181, Randolph, New York. He was a Buffalo Bills and NASCAR fan and enjoyed four wheeling and his model trains.

Surviving besides his wife are: three daughters, April (Josey) Pierce, Jimersontown, NY, Shannon (Dustin) George, Steamburg, NY, Maurienne (Scott Abrams) Jimerson, Jimersontown, NY; two sons, Philip (Heidi) Jimerson, Great Valley, NY, Walter (Teesha Shongo) Jimerson, Kill Buck, NY; 17 grandchildren, including Alyana Jimerson, who spent many years living with her grandparents; three great-grandchildren; five brothers, Michael (Shirley) Jimerson, Salamanca, NY, Gordon (Connie) Jimerson, Steamburg, NY, David Jimerson, Salamanca, NY, Merle Jimerson, Salamanca, NY, Patrick Jimerson, Steamburg, NY; three sisters, Debra Hoag, Jimersontown, NY, Victoria Jimerson, Olean, NY, Penny (Aaron) Minner, Salamanca, NY; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Alan Jimerson and Dana Jimerson.

Friends may call on Monday after 5:00 PM and all day Tuesday at the family home, 1060 Center Road, Steamburg, NY.

Funeral services will be held in the family home on Wednesday at 10:00 AM.

The O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Burial will be in Hillside Haven Cemetery, Steamburg, New York.

Full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post 535 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296.
