Stephen Montgomery

Stephen Montgomery,40, town of Mansfield, New York, died Monday, April 28, 2014.

Born April 26, 1974 in Olean, New York, he was the son of Stephen and Pamella Willett Montgomery of Salamanca, New York, who survive. He was married on September 11, 1999 to the former Amanda Loftus, who survives.

He was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1992.

Mr. Montgomery was a Veteran of the United State Air Force serving as a Patrol Dog Handler with the Military Police. He was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Longevity Service Award, Air Force Training Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, and the Air Force good Conduct Medal.

He was employed as a corrections officer at the Cattaraugus County Jail in Little Valley, New York. Also trained new corrections officers and participated in the Child Safety Seat Program.

Mr. Montgomery was a member of the Little Valle American Legion Post 531 where he had served as past commander. He was an avid outdoors man and enjoyed ice fishing and hunting.

Surviving besides his wife and parents are: 1 sister, Michelle (Joseph) Cammarata, Salamanca, NY; 1 niece, Kaylei DuPont, Salamanca, NY; 1 nephew, Kellen Quigley, Salamanca, NY.

Memorial visitation will be held at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Saturday, May 10, 2014 from 2 - 3 p.m. at which time a memorial service will be held with Rev. Michael Lonto, pastor of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, officiating

Burial will be in Little Valley Rural Cemetery, Little Valley, New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the National Wild Turkey Youth Hunting Program or the local SPCA.
