Thomas W. Fitzpatrick

Thomas W. Fitzpatrick, 69, of Great Valley, NY died Sunday, October 1, 2023 at Olean General Hospital following a short respiratory illness.

Born March 4, 1954 in Salamanca, NY, he was the son of the late William and Barbara Memmott Fitzpatrick. He was married on October 25, 1975 in Ellicottville, NY to the former Karen Sloand, who survives.

He was a graduate of Ellicottville High School, Class of 1972 and attended Grahm Junor College, Boston MA, majoring in Communications.

Tom owned and operated Independent Electronics, Ellicottville, NY and then moved to Toledo, OH for 16 years. Upon returning to Ellicottville, he started Fitzpatrick Security Systems which he operated from 1992 – 2013.

He was a member of the Holy Name of Mary RC Church, Ellicottville, NY and enjoyed boating and outdoor grilling. Throughout his life, he was known as a Cub Scout leader, hardware store worker, and even a carousel operator at Pumpkinville. In addition to playing bass in many area bands, he will also be remembered for setting up sound systems at many local plays and events.

Surviving besides his wife are: a son, Logan Fitzpatrick, Brooklyn, NY; several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by a brother, James Fitzpatrick.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be held in the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 1pm with Will Lowry officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to the Ellicottville Memorial Library, P.O. Box 1226, Ellicottville, NY 14731.
