Toby A. Story

Toby A. Story, 72, of Salamanca, NY died Thursday evening, September 1, 2022 at the Salamanca Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Salamanca, NY.

Born May 29, 1950 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of the late Thomas and Grace Beagle Story.

He was a graduate of Salamanca High School, Class of 1968 and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Utica University.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, earning the rank of Sergeant while serving in Vietnam.

Toby had been employed as a foreman with the former Fancher Furniture Company in Salamanca for over 27 years. Upon retirement, he had been employed as a Certified Nursing Assistant at the Salamanca Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, and enjoyed doing carpentry work.

He was a member of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post 535 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296. He enjoyed spending time with his daughters and grandchildren, the outdoors, fishing, and listening to music.

Surviving are: two daughters, Shela (James Bird) Story, Nadene Story, both of Salamanca, NY; four grandchildren, Todd Moore, Brytni Taylor, Bryce Taylor, John Valentine; three sisters, Sharon (Joseph) Novara, Spotsylvania, VA, Susan Droney, Vinland, NJ, Debra (Gary) Parsons, Limestone, NY; three brothers, Thomas Story, Salamanca, NY, Dana (Ellen) Story, Great Valley, NY, Robert Story, Jamestown, NY; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Terry Story, and two sisters, Lynn Fredrickson and Lori Brisley.

Friends may call at the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Tuesday, September 6, 2022 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m., at which time a prayer service will be held.

Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Great Valley, NY.

Full military honors will be conducted by members of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post 535 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Veterans of Foreign Wars John F. Ahrens Post 5296, 61 Wildwood Avenue, Salamanca, NY 14779.
