Wayne H. Bowley

Wayne H. "Bud" Bowley, 88, of Salamanca, NY died Sunday evening, August 12, 2018 at Olean General Hospital.

Born July 2, 1930 in Limestone, NY, he was the son of the late David and Elsie Mahle Bowley. He was married April 7, 1956 at the former First Methodist Church to the former Jane Donlin, who predeceased him on January 5, 2013.

Mr. Bowley was a veteran of the United States Army serving with the Artillery Division from 1948-1954. He spent tours of duty in Germany and France, where his assignment was driving a tank in the armored division.

Prior to his enlistment, he was employed by Taylor-Jamestown Furniture. Following his years in the armed services, he was employed at the former Fancher Furniture Co. for 17 years. He then worked for the former Jamestown Plywood for 19 years. At that time, he retired but did maintenance work at the United Congregational Methodist Church.

He was a member of the United Congregational Methodist Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, kayaking on the Allegany River, home improvements, and making wood crafts in his workshop.

Surviving are: a daughter, Karen (Peter) Quattrone, Salamanca, NY; five grandsons, Robert (Bonnie Bergan) Bly, Timothy Bly, Joshua Matthews, Andrew Newark, Jeremy Newark; three great-granddaughters, Kaydence Newark, Gabrielle Bly, Violet Bly; two great-grandsons, Ayden Newark, Alexander Bergan; four sisters, Evelyn Shear, Youngstown, NY, Ruth Matteson, Ellicottville, NY, Gladys Ingersoll, Lehigh Valley, FL, Mary "Mae" Whitmer, Olean, NY; several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce Bowley and a sister, Ada Metzger.

There will be no visitation.

A memorial service will be held at the United Congregational Methodist Church, 134 Broad Street, Salamanca on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 10am with Rev. Michael Trenchard officiating.
