William Ferguson

William D. Ferguson "Uncle Bill", age 89, of Salamanca, New York passed joyfully into the Presence of His Lord & Savior on Sunday, February 17, 2013 at the Bradford Manor, Bradford, PA.

Born on November 30, 1923 in Glasgow, Scotland, he was the son of the late John and Jean Dunsire Ferguson. They immigrated to the U.S. in 1925. He was married on September 14, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA to his Navy Wave bride, the former Elizabeth Orwig, who predeceased him on June 5, 2006.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving as a Radio Operator with 104th Cavalry in Central Europe and northern France during WWII. He was awarded the American Service Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal.

Mr. Ferguson served the Lord in many different ways; Murrysville Bible Chapel, Red House Chapel, Camp Li-Lo-Li, Wholeway House, the Voice of Many Waters Radio Program, Salamanca Christian Academy, and the Salamanca Bible Chapel.

Surviving are three sons: Bill (Susan) Ferguson, Jim (Donna) Ferguson, and Kirby (Andrea) Ferguson, all of Salamanca, NY; two daughters: Cathie (Jerry) Whitcomb of Randolph, NY, and Betsy (Allan) McIntee of St. Catherines, Ontario; 14 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Abby Ferguson; several nieces and nephews

He was predeceased by a brother, John Ferguson..

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday at 1 P.M. in the United Congregational Methodist Church, 134 Broad Street, Salamanca, New York..

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials to Camp Li-Lo-Li, 8811 Sunfish Run Road, Randolph, NY 14772.
