Anthony Gallo

Anthony D. Gallo, age 86, of the Bradford Ecumenical Home, Bradford, PA, formerly of Kent Boulevard, Salamanca, NY, died early Tuesday morning, February 5, 2013 following a long illness.

Born on February 13, 1926 in Kane, PA he was the son of the late Joseph & Theresa Perri Gallo.

Mr. Gallo was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II on both the USS Savannah and the USS Altair. He was awarded the Pacific Theater Ribbon, the American Theater Ribbon, and the Victory Medal.

He was employed as a plant manager for 36 years at the former Fancher Furniture Company prior to his retirement.

Mr. Gallo was a member of the American Legion Hughes-Skiba Post #535 and the former Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #1002. He enjoyed golfing and bowling. He was an avid woodworker. He is loved and will be missed by his family.

Surviving are: 4 sons, Michael (Anne) Gallo, Broken Arrow, OK, Steven (Ping) Gallo, Martinsburg, WV, Gregory (Cheryl) Gallo, Olean, NY, Chris (Sarah) Gallo, Salamanca, NY; 5 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Angelo Gallo, Fontana, CA, Ralph Gallo, Warren, PA; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by 4 sisters, Angie Gallo, Eleanor Campbell, Rose Ross, Mary Gallo, and 2 brothers, Dominic Gallo and Albert Gallo.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Thursday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor of Our Lady of Peace Parish, officiating.

Burial will be in St. Callistus Cemetery, Kane, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
