Charles Livak, 76, of 4100 Newton Run, Salamanca, New York died Wednesday (November14,2007) at the Pines at Machias, New York following a long illness.

Born October 29, 1931 in Salamanca, New York he was the son of the late Adam and Michalena Suzman Livak. He was married in St. Patricks Church on September 1, 1962 to the former Anne "Nan" Quinn who survives.

Mr. Livak was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal with one bronze star, Presidential Unit Citation, United States Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

He was employed as a Carpenter Foreman at Allegany State Park for 21 years prior to his retirement in 1986. Previously, he was a Tower Operator for the B & O Railroad and the Erie Railroad.

Mr. Livak was a member of St. Patrick's Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and his hobby was woodworking.

Surviving besides his wife are: 2 sons, Thomas Livak, Little Valley, New York, Timothy (Alexandra) Livak, Laguna Hills, California; 3 grandchildren, Adam Livak, Springville, New York, Siena and Luca Livak of Laguna Hills, California; a brother, Stanley Livak, of Erie Street, Salamanca, New York; 2 sisters, Lillian Wogick, Newton Street, Salamanca, New York, Dorothy Reed, Little Valley, New York; a sister-in-law, Wanda Livak, Erie Street, Salamanca, New York; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call on Friday at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M.

A prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday morning at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Patrick's Church, with Rev. Robert Karris OFM, St. Bonaventure, New York as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
