Marion Malak

Marion B. Malak, 94, of Eden Heights, Olean, NY and formerly of Salamanca, NY, died Friday morning, December 16, 2016 at Olean General Hospital following a brief illness.

Born October 21, 1922 in Lackawanna, NY, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Martha Ukolowicz Wrona. She was married to Mr. Walter F. Malak on October 20, 1945 in St. Barbara’s Church in Lackawanna, NY, who predeceased her in 2003. They enjoyed 58 years of marriage together.

She was a former employee of the Salamanca District Hospital, and spent many happy years after her retirement with her husband, Walt.

Before moving to Olean, NY, she was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish and the Holy Cross Athletic Club in Salamanca. Mrs. Malak loved and took pride in her former home in Salamanca and she was devoted to family. While a resident of Eden Heights in Olean, she made many new friends and took part in numerous activities, and held a special place in her heart for the wonderful care and compassion she received while living there. She enjoyed reading, attending Mass, loved music and Bingo, and especially enjoyed conversing with family and friends. She always had a positive outlook on life.

Surviving are: two sons, Michael J. (Gayle) Malak, Little Valley, NY, Walter D. (Ginger) Malak, Randolph, NY; a sister, Jane Bogdan, Depew, NY; several nieces and a nephew.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Cybulski and a brother, Joe Wrona.

As per Mrs. Malak’s wishes, there will be no funeral or visitation.

Entombment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, South Park Avenue, Lackawanna, NY.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the O’Rourke & O’Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, NY.
