Mary A. Janowicz

Mrs. Mary A. Janowicz, age 84, of Peth Road, Great Valley, New York, died Saturday evening, December 22, 2012 at The Pines Health Care & Rehabilitation, Olean, New York, following a short illness.

A life long resident of Great Valley, New York, she was born on May 13, 1928 in Salamanca, New York. She was the daughter of the late Fred & Mary Nichaha Kryniski. She was married on April 24, 1948 in Holy Cross Church to Mr. Raymond J. Bzdak, who predeceased her in 1952. She was remarried on January 22, 1955 to Mr. Paul W. Janowicz, who predeceased her in 2008.

Mrs. Janowicz was a homemaker and had been employed with the Ellicottville Central School System for over 17 years as a Bus Driver, retiring in 1983.

She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish, Salamanca, New York.

After she & her husband retired, they helped many people in their neighborhood with lawn work and landscaping. She loved gardening and was known for her vegetable garden and blueberries. She was a living example of character and faith; committed to her family.

Surviving are: 2 daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Hanson, Wellsville, NY, Elizabeth (Paul) Hanson, Olean, NY; 2 grandchildren, Eric (Angela) Hanson, Spring, TX, Krista (Timothy) Insley, Webster, NY; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; 2 sisters-in-law, Lillian Stebick, Olean, NY, Lorena Kryniski, Collins Center, NY.

She was predeceased by 3 sisters, Katherine Matthews, Tillie Prybynski, Anna Kryniski, 3 brothers, James Kryniski, Joseph Kryniski, Moxie Kryniski, and a son-in-law, William R. Hanson.

Friends may call at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River Street, Salamanca, New York on Thursday from 3-6 P.M.

A prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in Our Lady of Peace Parish with Rev. Patrick Melfi, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Salamanca, New York.
